Come and meet our inquisitive neighbours! Hill Top Campsite can only accommodate a handful of small tents and the access is quite steep and challenging, but campers are rewarded with a wonderful view, drinking water on tap, clean sanitation and a warm outdoor shower. The site is ideally located for walkers and cyclists: the Dales Way is very close in nearby Staveley and the National Cycle Network passes our gate. If you don't have a bicycle, we hire them out. For less energetic campers, the Central Lakes bus route,' 555', can be accessed from a bus stop 300 yards away and there is secure parking for your car in our drive.

Nearby attractions include the Watermill pub renowned for real ale and good food ,(400yards), Hawkshead Brewery in Staveley ,(1.5 miles E), Windermere, (1.5 miles W) and the magnificent old market town of Kendal (6 miles E).

This is the ultimate in basic camping. Come and try it, especially in the monsoon season which only lasts for 364 days each year!

Ultimate primitive camping site in epicentre of our wonderful Lake District. The inconvenience of a field latrine and drinking water stand-pipe is offset by fantastic views and award-winning pub, plus two breweries within staggering distance! National Cycle Path and Central Lakes bus-route pass our gateway. We also hire out bicycles. Secure parking for cars, tents only, access challenging, only the fittest may apply.

P.S We now offer hot water showers for weary campers.
